Artist Indaba/Introductions: June 28/29/30

Artists will meet up to discuss their projects, exchange ideas and prep for the exhibition.

Exhibition: July 20, 2020 – August 1, 2020

(Gallery Open Monday to Sunday, 12pm-6pm)

Booklet workshop: Saturday, July 25, 2020

Participants will collaborate with dc based artists to create and design a resources booklet to be a guide for artists who are new to the area.

DC Tours: throughout July & August

Artists will get to explore the DC art scene, participate in studio visits and go on art walks together.

Artists who are migrants, refugees and new Americans.

 ORGANIZERS:

Norhan Hawala is a sculptor, illustrator and musician from Cairo,Egypt. Hawala has been interested in memory alteration and how objects, spaces and sounds contain memories as well as trigger them - especially since her move to the U.S - and how that affects one’s identities.

 Laylaa Randera is a Photographer and multimedia artist from Johannesburg, South Africa. She is interested in culture and gender boundaries, urban development, race relations, and the African diaspora. She explores the way the archive, myth, iconography and symbolism relate to the contemporary world.
